SoHo Restaurant Floor
For a former restaurant interior in SoHo, Montgomery Studios was commissioned to create a custom painted floor for a minimal space. The project brought narrative, texture, and history into an otherwise restrained environment.
The floor was conceived as a palimpsest: a layered surface holding traces of use, movement, and inhabitation. Through pattern, color, and hand-painted detail, the design suggested accumulated stories, worn pathways, and the quiet marks left by bodies moving through space over time.
Set against the restaurant’s minimal architecture, the floor became both ground and archive, introducing depth, memory, and ornament while preserving the restraint of the interior.
